This is one of my favorite places on Earth. Historic Cherokee State Park is located in Aurora, Kentucky near and part of the Kenlake State Park system. Cherokee State Park operated from the mid-50’s until it was closed in 1964. Placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in January, 2009 the park re-opened in September, 2010 due in part to the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteers who wished to see the park restored as a usable recreation area. In addition to the beautiful scenery and waterfront, the park has a dining hall which can be used for events and a boat ramp for anglers.
It is peaceful and serene. Tootsie likes it too.
